The staff and partners working with the club will work tirelessly to embed the culture of safeguarding across every aspect of WCCC? and its activity. We are committed to having the right people involved through a robust recruitment process which includes checks, training, and monitoring.

WCCC adheres to our regulatory requirements which are set by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and we also work closely with the NSPCC and Local Children’s and Adults Safeguarding Board’s guidelines.

WCCC will develop and implement effective policy, procedure and good practice in order to protect all children, adults and other vulnerable people who attend our activities.

Warwickshire Cricket is committed to ensuring everyone participating in cricket does so in a safe, friendly, secure, and enjoyable environment.

Everyone at Warwickshire Cricket, whether as a player, coach, official, administrator, staff member, volunteer, spectator, parent, or carer has a role to play. Individually and collectively, it is our actions, both on and off the field which can help create a positive and inclusive culture.

Therefore, we have adopted the ECB’s Safe Hands Policy and Guidance.

If I have a safeguarding concern at my club – who should I contact?

Each club will have a dedicated Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO) and this person will be your first point of contact. You can also contact Thomas Cunningham-Smith, Warwickshire CCC Safeguarding Manager via safeguarding@edgbaston

What is a safeguarding concern?

A safeguarding issue or concern is anything that might impact on children and young people’ safety and welfare, cause them harm, or put them at risk of harm. Sometimes, a child or young person might?tell someone about (or disclose) abuse or neglect. You might also notice?signs of abuse?or see something that worries you. Safeguarding issues or concerns also include things that can increase the risk of harm – for example, not following?safer recruitment practices, having?inadequate supervision?or not carrying out proper risk assessment for online and offline activities.

If you think a child is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999. If you’re worried about a child but they are not in immediate danger, you should share your concerns.

What qualifications do I need to be a Club Safeguarding Officer at my local club?
